Founded in Montreal on October 28, 1983 under the name of Quebec Association of Deans and Directors for the Advancement of Studies and Research in Education Incorporated (ADAEREQ), its name was changed to the Association of Deans, Doyens, Directors , guidelines for study and research in education in Quebec (ADEREQ) in 1997.
ADEREQ is a national autonomous non-profit organization which was incorporated on October 10, 1983 under the authority of constituting law 070 – L.R.Q. chapters C-23 (1983) and C-38, part 3 (1988). Since October 9, 1996, she has been identified with the Inspector General of Financial Institutions of Quebec under the number 1146130050.
The objectives of ADEREQ are to:
- Promote the exchange of information and cooperation between the faculties and departments of education of Quebec universities in the field of studies and research in education;
- Promote Quebec university points of view by participating in social debates in or on education;
- Represent the faculties and departments of education of Quebec universities with government, ministerial, university and school authorities, with educational and teaching establishments as well as with constituted organizations, acting in the field of education and Training.
ADEREQ's means of action are:
- Ensure communication between its members (meetings, etc.);
- Represent its members with government, ministerial, university, school or other bodies that seek its participation and advice;
- Produce and publish Opinions or Briefs on issues related to the field of education and scientific and professional training in education, particularly in training for all levels of education;
- Hold study days, scientific and professional symposiums or other activities likely to promote studies and research in education.
